Creekside Park, Pleasanton CA

Creekside Park

Creekside Park sits right in the middle of this pleasant suburban town. The 623-acre park has so much to offer, including family picnic areas, barbecues, baseball fields, soccer fields, an off leash area for dogs (with separate areas for large and small dogs), tennis courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball nets, restrooms and playgrounds just to name a few things. If you're feeling adventurous you can rent one of the Park District's paddle boats or kayaks and paddle up or down San Francisco Creek. And if that isn't enough, trails are all over the place here too!

Hiking Trails

There are about 10 miles of paved trails throughout Creekside Park. Some are designated as multi-use (for biking and walking) while others are designated as single-use trails for hiking only. There is also a 2.4 mile long section of the Ohlone Greenway that runs through Creekside Park and along San Francisco Creek. The Greenway itself, which is part of the larger Bay Area Ridge Trail , will eventually provide hikers with access to over 50 miles of trails throughout Pleasanton and the East Bay Regional Parks District.

Trail entrances can be found all around Creekside Park, however the entrances to the multi-use trails are adjacent to Valley Avenue just off of Hopyard Road. Here you can find bathrooms and water fountains near these entrance points too!

Equestrian Trails

If you're looking for horseback riding trails, there are about 10 miles of trails in Creekside Park marked for equestrians only. Be sure to bring your own horse though - there is nowhere to rent horses at the park. Trail entrances can be found off of Greenville Road and Hacienda Drive.

Fishing

Fishing is allowed in San Francisco Creek as well as most other creeks that flow into or out of it throughout Creekside Park. You must have a California fishing license and follow all local ordinances and regulations when fishing at Creekside Park ( see link ). Dog Off Leash Area The off- leash area for dogs is located along the eastern border of Creekside Park, off of Valley Avenue. There are separate areas for large and small dogs as well as a dog agility area - information on that can be found here.

Pavilions

There are several pavilions throughout Creekside Park that can be rented for family picnics or gatherings. You must reserve these picnic areas ahead of time through the Pleasanton Recreation & Parks District (more info at link ). The cost varies depending on which one you rent.

Boardwalk Over San Francisco Creek

The Boardwalk over San Francisco Creek offers a great view from about 20ft up in the air! It's a great place to take pictures and enjoy some amazing views of the creek. The boardwalk is actually a bridge that runs from one side of Creekside Park to the other, near Greenville Road and Valley Avenue. This bridge/boardwalk has been around for decades and hasn't had much work done on it in a long time - so you might want to be careful if you use it!

Picnic Areas

There are several picnic areas throughout Creekside Park where you can have a family gathering with barbecues, picnic tables and restrooms nearby. Most of these picnic areas have some sort of view as well as they sit right along San Francisco Creek or overlook various parts of the park. You can reserve these picnic areas per City Ordinance.

Ballfields

If you're looking for a place to play ball, Creekside Park has several baseball fields and soccer areas.

Group Camps and Retreats

If you're looking for a spot for your group to stay overnight, Creekside Park has several campsites available throughout the park. One of the campsites is located right next to San Francisco Creek near Greenville Road, while some are up on top of the hill as well as others down by the entrance off Valley Avenue - see map below! These sites can be reserved per City Ordinance.
