Muirwood Community Park
Muirwood Community Dog Park is located on the 13.9-acre Muirwood Community Park site in Pleasanton, California. This immaculately clean park facility receives high marks from visitors for its attention to detail and well-shaded grounds that provide shade from the midday sun. On the acreage, there are two fenced play areas for all dogs to use that have been designed with off-leash play in mind. One of the two enclosures was specifically designated for small, elderly, or shy dogs who would benefit from a more appropriate style of play for their size, temperament, and age. While both dog playgrounds are considered off-leash areas, all owners must ensure that their dogs are always on a leash.
Muirwood Community Dog Park is a free, open-to-the-public park. In this lovely park, the dog runs are lined with wood chips. For the convenience of all owners, there is plenty of comfortable seating as well as poop bags in the runs. As part of responsible dog ownership, property owners must clean up after their dogs. This helps to keep Muirwood Community Dog Park clean and appealing to all visitors. Although the availability of water on the premises is unknown, the nearby family-friendly Muirwood Community Park has several public bathrooms on its premises. Owners can get water here to help keep their pets cool and clean.
The park has many attractions that will surely appeal to the entire family. On-site facilities include a walking track, basketball and tennis courts, swing playgrounds, and public barbecues. Visitors to Muirwood Community Dog Park are not expected to do anything. To prevent diseases from entering the grounds, however, it is best if your dog is up to date on all relevant vaccinations. A city dog license is also recommended. Plan a trip to Muirwood Community Dog Park for a fun day in the sun!
This is one of the east bay's most popular parks. The fact that it is shaded and clean is something that most people appreciate about this park. There is plenty of parking, and the bathrooms are adequate (no soap, but that's fine; just bring your own). The kids can expend all of their energy on the playground or by running around on the expansive lawns. You'll have a great time here.
History
The park is located in the Las Positas Valley and covers 147 acres. It offers a variety of recreational opportunities for the community to enjoy, including picnic areas, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, nature trails, and open space.
The land on which Muirwood Community Park now stands has a long history dating back to the 1800s when it was used as grazing land for cattle and horses. In 1965, the City of Pleasanton began acquiring parcels of land for the future park. Over time, additional land was purchased or donated, making up the current park size.
Muirwood Community Park is named after William Muir Woods (1856-1927), who was a renowned naturalist and early conservationist. Mr. Woods is credited with helping to preserve California's redwood forests, and he served as the first president of the Sierra Club from 1892-1894.
Making Room for Recreation
In 2000, another two-acre donation allowed city officials to begin developing the space into what it is today - a seven-acre area with lots of green spaces for residents to enjoy!
A Place For Everyone
This family friendly hangout has everything you could need or want on a hot summer day! It includes playground equipment that all ages can play on together including swings, slides and climbers along with water fountains throughout the park grounds.
